Cosmetic Procedures

Crown Lengthening
Functional lengthening - In some cases a restoration is needed such as a crown or filling. Gum and bone are removed and smoothed to expose enough tooth to anchor a new crown or restoration.

Cosmetic lengthening - This is done to remove an overgrowth of gum tissue. It can improve appearance and make teeth easier to clean.

Soft tissue graft
Gum recession can be caused for a variety of reasons. Some of which can be loss of bone support, or aggressive brushing habits. During this procedure, your periodontist will take gum tissue from your palate or another donor source to cover the exposed root. This can be done for one tooth or several teeth to even your gumline and reduce sensitivity. Also gum grafts may be done to increase the thickness of tissue only.
