Your Treatment Process
Your first appointment will consist of a thorough
examination. This may include a photograph, series of x-rays and
supporting diagnostic data. We will perform a consult where we can
explain periodontal disease, review our clinical findings, present
your treatment plan and all alternatives, and discuss financial
arrangements. Once your treatment plan has been established, your
appointment sequence will be arranged with your needs in mind. We
will not insist on or proceed with a plan of treatment without your
complete understanding, knowledge, acceptance and permission to
do so.
Periodontal treatment is divided into three phases:
- Initial Phase: concerned primarily
with removal of bacterial deposits on the teeth that cause periodontitis
- Surgical Phase: when required, to further
treat areas of disease unresponsive to initial therapy
- Maintenance Phase
These phases will be discussed in detail at the consultation appointment.
In our office, we do not perform any surgeries unless absolutely indicated for your benefit.
Please know that we strive at every appointment
to see that you are comfortable during treatment. We maintain open
communication with your referring dentist. We inform your dentist
of any services rendered and any treatment that may be needed in
the future. By doing this your general dentist can provide more
comprehensive treatment for you.
